Pacific players in France set up

November 19, 2012 12:01 am

Pacific Island players including those from Fiji continue to impress the France rugby coaching staff.

Currently lock, Jocelino Suta, who hails from Wallis and Futuna, is in the French side.

However, by next year, if all goes to plan, Fijians Noa Naikataci and Virimi Vakatawa could be the latest Pacific inclusions for the French.

Here’s Fiji Rugby Union coaching director Franck Boivert with more.

“Well we know for sure that Virimi Vakatawa just like Noa Naikataci is willing to play for France or rather to play for France but right now they are both still not eligible for France. You need three years residency so both the players will not be eligible to play for France until June 2013.”

Vakatawa currently plays for Racing Metro, while Naikataci plays his trade with Clermont.

They both turned down an offer to play for Fiji for the current Europe Tour.
