The Pacific Games Council expects to make a major change to its regional meet soon.

While the venue for the 2019 games is yet to be decided, Council President Vidhya Lakhan says, they are working hard to make the regional games as a continental game.

“If you win a gold medal in an event in the Pacific Games then it should give you direct entry into the Commonwealth Games or to the Olympic Games. We don’t have to travel around the world to qualify so I’m busy trying to do get that but to get the recognition of a continental game we have to have Australia and New Zealand.”

Meanwhile, the venue of the next Pacific Games will be revealed on the 30th of August in Gold Coast.
