Overseas based reps issues to be resolved soon

June 14, 2015 6:49 pm

The issue of local players battling overseas-based reps for a spot in the Vodafone Flying Fijians squad will be brought to the fore again in the coming weeks.

This as national coach, John McKee assembles a strong side for the match against the Maori All Blacks as well as the Pacific Nations Cup.

The Kiwi mentor says although the wise choice would be to use the majority of the overseas-based reps, he will be looking to reward some members of the Telecom Fiji Warriors side that returned from a South American tour two weeks ago.

“Players returning from overseas and the Warriors players on good form and relatively fresh, its makes it interesting for the Maoris game and we could certainly see a few of those guys featuring in the squad.”

McKee has named a 53-member squad and will begin trimming the squad from this week in preparation for the Flying Fijians match against the Maori All Blacks on July 11th at the ANZ Stadium.
