Only 16 teams will now take part in this year’s Kriz Signz National Club Football Championships zonal play-offs, which starts this weekend.

Fiji Football Association Competitions Manager Amitesh Pal says Maro United of Nadroga have been disqualified as they did not register their team in the required manner.

Maro finished in the top two of the local league competition and were eligible to take part in the NCC playoffs but could not register their team in a proper way.

This means that now only seven teams will take part from the west, eight teams from the south and one from the North.

The Southern play-offs will take place this Saturday and Sunday in Suva while the Western playoffs will be held on the same days in Sigatoka.

The final will be held next week at a venue yet to be confirmed.
