O'Connor welcomes new selection process

Fiji Rugby Union Chief Executive John O’Connor has welcomed the new process of the selection for the teams taking part in the World Rugby Pacific Challenge Cup.

Fiji, Samoa, Tonga and Japan will have to field an Under-23 team with only five senior players part of it.

O’Connor says they are currently working on the new selection formula and he hopes to field a competitive team.

“We’ve received a notification from World Rugby that it should be a combination of experienced and under 23 players and we’re working on that to make sure we comply with it.”

The tournament will be held on the 9th, 13th and 17th of next month at the ANZ Stadium in Suva.
