Vodafone Fiji Under-19 football coach Ravinesh Kumar says New Zealand-based Altaf Shahib and Mohammed Shuaid Khan have gelled in with the side.

The national juniors are in their final two days of preparations before the start of the OFC Under-19 Championships at the ANZ Stadium in Suva on Friday.

The two players only arrived into the country last Friday and joined the team and had their first full session with the squad over the weekend.

“Talking about Altaf (Shahib), he was with the boys when they were in the Fiji Under-17 together and has he has gelled in well. So as the other boy, who has joined us, Mohammed Shuaid Khan, he has also gelled with the tem as he has played with the team in New Zealand and we knew him from before so the team bonding is there and they have fitted in well.”

The championships start at 2.30pm on Friday with Fiji taking on American Samoa.

Vanuatu meets New Caledonia at 5pm, before the Solomon Islands and Papua New Guinea clash at 7.30pm.
