Northland wants third consecutive win

April 20, 2012 8:03 pm

The Northland rugby team has so far had an impressive start to the Digicel Cup this season and will be looking for their third consecutive win against Nadi this afternoon.

The Ilivasi Tabua coached side beat Vatukoula 17-3 in the first round then defeated Lautoka 30-26 last Saturday and Tabua says if they keep to the basics, another win should be in the bag today.

“The opposition is different to Lautoka, Lautoka was a bigger side, we used the space well and turned them around and we tried to shut down whatever options they had. Playing Nadi will be a bit similar as all western teams play a similar style. For us it’s about controlling possession and trying to pin them down in their territory. Knowing the conditions and the weather, those are two things we can’t control… the elements and the referee.”
