Fiji Baseball Development Officer Inoke Niubalavu has commended the interest and growth of the sport in the country.

Niubalavu says ever since they established the development program six years ago, the sport has improved tremendously.

He says the outcome of the development program is evident on the field.                                                     

“Through the initiative and the development program that we started six years ago, the improved baseball culture has been instilled within the players. Baseball has been here for a while. This is the 18^th year now. We’ve learnt that in the past, former players would only focus on the Pacific Games. This would mean that they would only come for training closer to the starting of the game.”

The Baseball Fiji Association is working with the Sports Min­istry to help secure playing fields in Sigatoka and Nadi.
