Newfound confidence in Fiji 7s

December 7, 2012 7:00 pm

Fiji’s voice of rugby, Graham Eden has a newfound confidence in the Digicel Fiji 7s team for the South Africa 7s this weekend.

Fiji’s first match is against England at 10.22pm (Fiji time) tonight and Eden says having watched their captain’s run yesterday, led by skipper, Setefano Cakau a lot has changed for the better ahead of the tourney.

“We’re in this pool of death and it’s going to be an extraordinarily difficult pool, and with the improving sovereign side we can’t be sure on Dubai performances to think that we are going to win but what gave me confidence was the captains run. I watched them after their warm-ups, we used the ball much more than they did in Fiji which I was earlier disgusted with by the lack of quality. However, in Port Elizabeth, despite watching from afar, I was pleased to see action taking place. There was more jinxing and stepping before making passes, I wasn’t oo pleased with lineout throws but the use of the ball was much more this time and what I noticed more. I am confident it will be better this weekend.”
