More talented weightlifters have been discovered following the opening of two new clubs.

This was confirmed by Fiji National Sports Commission chairperson Peter Mazey.

Following the boycotting issue of their elite lifters from Levuka earlier this year, Weightlifting Fiji has stopped competing at international events.

Mazey says after the recent national trials they have discovered talents which can be developed for future competitions.

“Weightlifting Fiji held their competition here in Suva with all the new clubs from Makosoi which is the new club from Serua and also talent lifters have been identified from Kadavu and now training at the national gymnasium.”

He adds they will continue their trials early next year to scout lifters for the Pacific Games in Samoa in July.
