The new players in the Fiji netball side are about to receive a baptism of fire when they feature in the Digicel Punjas International Series in Suva this afternoon.
Seven players have been selected from the Digicel Punjas Super League to make their debut for the national team.
Skipper Mere Neiliko says making the step-up to international level will be of immense help to the new players’ development as they take on Singapore and Papua New Guinea.
“Definitely it will help them for this series and for their future goal in representing our country. This is the foundation for them to meet up with international teams and build-up from there.”
Fiji coach Kate Carpenter, has named a 22-member squad to participate in the four-day competition.
The squad will be broken up into two teams, Digicel Fiji and Punjas Fiji.
A combined Fiji side will take on PNG One at 5pm today at the Vodafone Arena in Suva.
PNG Two will take on Singapore at 7pm.
