Samoa rugby 7s coach Sir Gordon Tietjens says the Oceania 7s championship which kicks off today will be a chance for his new players to prove their worth ahead of the opening leg of the World 7s Series in Dubai next month.

Tietjens says they should come out of their comfort zone and showcase their talents on the Fijian soil in the two-day event.

“I know the Samoan boys loving to come to Fiji and good tournament comes with an ideal time this year before getting on to the HSBC Series in Dubai so it’s a good build up towards that and also it gives me a great opportunity to bring some new players to have a crack here in Fiji.”
