New FRU board elected at AGM

A new board of directors was elected into office yesterday during the Fiji Rugby Union Annual General Meeting at Novotel Hotel in Lami.

The new members are Jay White, John O’Connor, Max Olsen, Tevita Bolanavanua, Ratu Aisea Vosailagi and Carl Ngamoki-Cameron.

FRU will await a nominee from Government as well as two from the Rugby Trustee to join the board.

A new chairman will also be elected soon from the newly-elected board to replace outgoing chairman, Filimone Waqabaca.

Ngamoki-Cameron is the only director that was retained from the previous board which consisted of Daniel Whippy, Dr. Berlin Kafoa, Dr. Esther Williams, Napolioni Batimala, Baljeet Singh and Filimoni Vatuvoka.

Meanwhile the FRU netted a profit of $586,213 at the end of the 2014 financial year.

Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama in his capacity as President of FRU chaired the AGM, which recorded a good turnout of over 90 union officials.
