Suva Netball aims to combat NCD’s in Fiji

Combating non-communicable diseases is one of the main aims for Suva Netball Association’s Business House Competition this year.

President Timaima Vulimailaucala says since its inception four years ago, the Netball Competition has promoted a healthier work environment.

Business houses competing at the event over the years have seen a significant increase in the performance of their workers.

“In the past few years that we have been running business house we have seen the friendship grow, and they are always trying to interact with each other and its not just a ladies’ sports now we have seen men come out to play.”

Timaima Vulimailaucala says another major achievement is there is a healthier relationship at work among colleagues.

 

“We have seen a lot of change in some of their behaviors, in the workforce, when they are fit to continue to work and it should really reduce a lot of what should we say… attendance in the workforce or injuries or health wise so we see a beneficial of that.”

28 teams from various business houses will take part in this year’s Business House Competition which begins next Tuesday.
