Negotiations on for Bati coach

July 13, 2015 5:09 am

The Fiji National Rugby League is in negotiations with an undisclosed candidate to replace Rick Stone for Fiji Bati head coach.

FNRL acting general manager, Ilaitia Naqau says they hope to have a coach selected soon to prepare the Bati side for the Four Nations qualifying match against Samoa in October.

“We have asked him if he could come and just to help us build-up the local players to give them a good chance of being selected in the team. So there is a coach who is willing to help and we are still negotiating with him at this stage.”

Stone quit the Fiji Bati coaching position after the 2013 Rugby League World Cup but was brought back to mentor the side in the Melanesian Cup earlier this year.

The Fiji Bati will host Samoa in the Four Nations qualifier at the ANZ Stadium in Suva on October 17th.
