Nayacalevu to be top choice for centre for Flying Fijians

August 21, 2015 1:10 am

Vodafone Flying Fijians team for the Rugby World Cup, head coach John McKee has hinted he will be using Waisea Nayacalevu, as his first choice centre.

Nayacalevu, has been usually used at wing for the side, but he could have found his new calling at a new position.

McKee says Nayacalevu is just one of the options he has in the backline.

“I think probably the main one that stood out for me in the PNC was Waisea Nayacalevu. I always considered him as a wing but gave him that opportunity in the final at center and he played very very well. He has really put his hand up to be the number choice centre for the Flying Fijains. There is a little bit of competition in that position as we have Vereniki Goneva as well. That augurs very well. That is one example of a player whether he is a wing or centre but my thinking now is that he is more of a centre.”

The 31-member team for the World Cup will be named at 7pm in Suva. You can watch the coverage of this live on FBC TV from 6.30pm.

The team naming will also air live on Radio Fiji One, BULA FM and Gold FM at 7pm.
