Navua banks on IDC sucess

December 12, 2012 5:56 pm

The Navua football side will be banking on its home grown players when the Fiji Sun/GP Batteries National League gets underway on Saturday.

The minnows, who shocked all and reached the semi-finals of the IDC in October, are out to ensure they net maximum points this weekend against Labasa and Savusavu.

Navua football president Gopal Naidu says the side will be boosted by Netani Doli and possibly Apisai Smith, who is still waiting for his ITC from New Zealand.

However, there is no confirmation on any other players joining.

“There is no confirmation. We have already contacted a few players like Peniame Drova but we are not sure if they interested and there is confirmation if they are joining Navua.”

Navua plays Labasa on Saturday at 3.30pm at Subrail Park before taking on Savusavu at the same venue on Sunday at 1.30pm.

In other games, on Saturday, Savusavu takes on Rewa at Subrail Park at 1.30pm.

At Churchill Park, Lautoka plays Tavua at 1pm before Nadroga and Nadi do battle at 3pm.

On Sunday, Labasa plays Rewa at 3.30pm at Subrail Park.

In the Pillay Garments CVC, Ba and Suva clash at 4pm at Govind Park on Sunday.
