Basketball Fiji is calling on the public to come out and support the Fiji men’s and women’s team at next week’s FIBA–USP Oceania under19 Championships in Suva.
BF President Ioane Naivalurua says the one-week competition is a good opportunity for locals to watch professional basketball on home court.
“I would like to encourage you all out there to come and support your team Fiji. This is a wonderful time to cheer the young men and women on, when the game starts on Monday. The admission is free for those under 16 and $3 for adults. I would really like to see the Vodafone Arena filled when the tournament starts next week’’.
Meanwhile, the Fiji National Sports Commission today gave a grant of $225,000 to help fund the hosting of the competition.
The FIBA–USP Oceania under 19 Championship starts next Monday at the Vodafone Arena with the finals on Saturday.
