Fiji Airways 7s coach Gareth Baber says Kalione Nasoko is one of the trusted leader and can lead the side in the Oceania 7s championship this weekend.
Nasoko was given the captaincy role after Paula Dranisinukula was ruled out due to injury.
Coach Gareth Baber says Kalione Nasoko has been very instrumental in the last two seasons of the world 7s series.
“I want Kali to lead the team this weekend and Paula would have been the choice otherwise but his now with an injury and Kali will take the team this weekend in terms of the captaincy.”
When asked about why Jerry Tuwai was given the captaincy role this weekend, Baber says his desire is always to develop many leaders in the squad.
Fiji plays Solomon Islands in its first pool match at 4.57pm on Friday and then they will take on PNG at 8.06pm at the ANZ Stadium in Suva.
