Nasiga given Olympic Games lifeline

Top Fiji judoka, Sisila Nasiga has been offered an Olympic Games lifeline.

Nasiga has a second chance to qualify for London after only Josateki Naulu was able to go through from the Oceania Championships two months ago.

Team Fiji chef de mission, Chris Yee says as one of Oceania’s top contenders, the powers that be will be able to make it possible for her to compete.

“Sisilia has got a recommendation from the Oceania Judo Federation for her to represent the Pacific. The Oceania region because of her previous performances and she is a good competitor. It is now in the hands of the International Judo Federation and the International Olympic Committee whether they will give a yay or nay on this.”

Nasiga, with swimmers, Douglas Miller and Matelita Buadromo are currently training locally.

While archery’s Robert Elder is in Korea, javelin thrower, Leslie Copeland is in Europe, Josateki Naulu is in Japan and shooter, Glen Kable is globe-trotting and expected to compete in Italy.
