Naholo to use RWC outing as motivation

February 16, 2016 6:00 pm

Fiji-born All Blacks winger, Waisake Naholo says a disappointing outing at last year’s Rugby World Cup will help motivate him as he turns out for Super Rugby champions, the Highlanders this year.

The 23 year old scored 13 tries in 18 games last year, launching him into All Blacks selection, only to sustain an injury in his international debut against Argentina.

A miracle recovery following herbal treatment in Fiji saw Naholo make the World Cup squad.

Naholo admits he still had the injury going into the World Cup and it was difficult to play knowing he was not 100 % fit.

Now the speedster hopes to rekindle his title-winning form alongside fellow Fiji-born winger, Patrick Osborne as the Highlanders chase back-to-back glory.

The 2016 Super Rugby season kicks off next weekend.

The Highlanders will take on Blues at 6:35pm next Friday while Nemani Nadolo’s Crusaders side will face the Chiefs at the same time on Saturday and you can watch both matches live on FBC TV.
