Nadroga wins Senior division title

The Nadroga football side has won the Senior Division title at the Courts Inter District Championship.

The stallions came from a goal down to beat Navua 2-1 in extra time.

Iliavi Katonibau scored in the first half to give Navua a 1-nil lead at half-time.

Navua’s Simione Maikali was sent off in the second spell which saw the Stallions taking advantage and getting the equalizer in the 94th minute through Tomasi Tuicakau.

Tuicakau proved to be his teams hero scoring the winner in the first speel of extra time.

Nadroga coach, Kaminieli Tuilawaki was jubilant in victory.

“My hats off to the boys. We had a game plan coming into this tournament and the boys played according to that. I am really pleased with my players and I know they deserve to win here today.”

Tuicakaku scooped the golden boot award in the Senior division with six goals, Nadroga’s Shelvin Singh won the Player of the tournament while team mate Paula Buke is the new find of the tournament.

Navua’s Dorsant Naidu was the Player of Day for day five.
