Nadroga through to semi-finals

The Nadroga football side has become the first team to qualify for the semi-finals of the senior division of the Courts Inter District Championships underway in Lautoka.

The Stallions thumped Rakiraki, 5-2, and in doing so showed they will be a tough team to bring down.

Coach Kaminieli Tuilawaki says the team’s hard work has finally paid off.

“ I’m really proud of the boys. They really played a good game and it has been paid off and Rakiraki provided a tough competition and hats off to them.”

Meanwhile, Rakiraki coach Pragdesh Gounder says the game was not what they had expected.

“The boys got demoralised and lack of preparation caused what has happened today. We will sit down and discuss where to go now. ”

In other matches played today, Tailevu Naitasiri thumped Seaqaqa 4-1, while Navua was surprisingly held to a 2-all draw by Nadogo.

Another interesting result saw Savusavu and Lami played out a 1-all draw.

Meanwhile, the premier games have started, with Labasa playing Dreketi.
Suva battles Nadi at 4pm, Tavua takes on Lautoka at 6pm while Rewa faces Ba at 8pm.
