Nadi discipline upsets Suva

July 22, 2012 12:30 am

Discipline was the key factor to Nadi upsetting Suva in the Inkk Mobile Battle of the Giants tournament opener today.

The Jetsetters Amani Makoe secured their three points after scoring in the 84th minute of play at Subrail Park.

Nadi coach, Kamal Swamy says apart from player discipline, assistance from Imdad Ali has helped.

“Nadi played according to the game plan, Imdaad Ali and myself told them to pressure the defence to create the openings and we scored.”

Nadi will play Lautoka in Round Two of the BOG at Churchill Park next week.

Meanwhile, Suva coach, Gurjit Singh says if not a win, they had hoped to draw with the Green Machines.

“A lapse in concentration in our defence caused us to concede a goal. We’re not out yet, we still have two games and get ready for them. Both teams were equally balanced looking at the score line for most of the match.”

Suva’s next BOG clash is with Navua next Thursday.
