Moves are underway to promote the sport of golf in the country among school children.

The Fiji International Working for Golf Program was launched today at the Pacific Harbor Multicultural School by PGA National Coaching Programs Manager, Nick Bielawski, who says they will visit 11 other schools from next month.

“Junior golf is the grassroots of the sport so we want junior golfers playing golf and the best place to do that is in the schools so we can introduce golf to them in their school environment. Hopefully from there, they can take the game up and take up and get involved with their golf club where they play in the game or in the business of golf as well.”

Other schools that will undergo the program include Yat Sen Primary, Marcellin Primary, Rampur Primary and Drasa Avenue School.

The Fiji International School program is aiming to reach over 2000 students.
