Fiji Rugby Union national coaching director, Frank Boivert says once the Fiji 7s team to Scotland is named, getting them enough game time beforehand, is vital.

Already, Fiji coach Alivereti Dere has scheduled a warm-up against the Army rugby club on Wednesday afternoon, however, no other games have been scheduled.

Boivert says with the Glasgow 7s just 10 days away, players need to be together as soon as possible.

“There are a couple of new inclusions in terms of leadership and being level headed and clearheaded. Definitely, you need one game or two before going as part of routine in preparation and as far as restarts are concerned it is being implemented by Etuate Waqa and it’s been taken off from Samoa and we should see on the next leg.”

Fiji is pooled with Zimbabwe, Portugal and Argentina.

The opening match is between Samoa and France while New Zealand faces Spain and South Africa takes on Russia.

Fiji is just six points behind series leaders, New Zealand and need to reach the cup finals to stay in contention of the title.
