Karan won the 1500m and 3000m at last month Coke Games, however, according to Athletics Fiji, Karan did not meet the criteria to be selected for the Games.

While clarifying the issue in Parliament, Kumar says the decision made by Athletics Fiji is final.

“As Minister for Sports, I would like to ask all his fans to respect his decision. Athletics Fiji responded to and clarified some of the issues that my Ministry raised with them regarding the non-selection. I join Yeshnil to show respect for the decision and to allow team Fiji to continue their preparation for the Pacific Games to bring glory to our country without undue distractions.”

Kumar says Karan has also accepted the decision.
