Mereoni Vibose passes away

FASANOC has extend its deepest sympathies to the family of former Fiji rep javelin thrower Mereoni Vibose who passed away this week.

The 65-year-old was inducted into the FASANOC Hall of Fame in 1998.

FASANOC Chief Executive Lorraine Mar says Vibose has left a good legacy for the upcoming athletes.

“I know Mereoni very well. She was someone you can hold up as a role model for other athletes. She was very humble. After she retired she moved to coaching before moving to Sigatoka. So we’re very saddened and we send our condolences to Mereoni’s family.”

Vibose retired from Athletics in 1991 after 22 years, having won three gold, four silver and two bronze medals.

The former Adi Cakobau School student representing Fiji in six South Pacific Games, two Commonwealth Games and two World Athletics Championships.
Vibose will be laid to rest in Nadroga tomorrow.
