Fiji Sports Commission Chair Peter Mazey is urging national sports federations to be part of the mediation council which was set up this year by the Chief Justice.

Mazey says the council has professional trained international mediators that can assist in solving any dispute arose from any federations.

He says this can be the possible way to solve the ongoing dispute between Weightlifting Fiji and the Levuka Weightlifting Club.

“We are very keen to all sports to be part of that and you might recall the problem we have with Chess last year that went to court. It’s much easier to be handled by professionals and the mediation council is heading on that. They all fully international trained mediators and that may be the way to go.”

Mazey has earlier said that the government will not intervene between the two parties as it is an internal matter which can be solved within.

Meanwhile, the Levuka Weightlifting Club has boycotted all future competitions following the contracted of the new Iranian coach, Hossein Tavakoli.
