McKee mointors local players for Flying Fijians

September 4, 2014 6:41 pm

Flying Fijians rugby coach John McKee is using the HFC Farebrother Challenges as a final selection ground for local-based players for the Europe Tour in November.

Players from teams such as Nadroga, Suva, Nadi and Naitasiri are part of either the Flying Fijians or the Fiji sevens squads.

McKee says with overseas players featuring for their clubs each week, the local players need to be up to par.

“We have got a number of players we are looking at Fiji and overseas. But certainly we have our eye on a few of the local boys and tracking their form through Farebrother and will also be looking at putting some of the players on some extra training programs towards the end of this month to give them a good build up towards November.”

Meanwhile, BLK Nadroga meets Northland in the second Farebrother Challenge match on Saturday at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka at 3pm.
