Masters tourney to test national teams

Fiji Hockey Association will be hosting the Oceania Masters Hockey tournament which opens tomorrow.

The Australian teams will feature former national and state reps.

Fiji National Hockey development officer Tai Smith says that the 4-day tournament will provide the ideal test for our national teams.

“If we get this kind of competition, they might be over 35 but I can tell you, there’ll be very stiff competition because these are the former players for the world number one. And they only 35 they not over the hill yet, so this competition will really help develop our national teams further”.

The first match will be played at 6pm on Tuesday at the National Hockey Centre in Laucala Bay.
