Fijian swimmer Meli Malani has managed a personal best in the Swimming World Championships in Kazan.

Swimming in the men’s 100 meters freestyle, he clocked a time of 53.68 seconds to finish third in his heat.

Despite missing out on a place in the final, Malani says he is happy to have done a personal best but not really satisfied with the result.

Matelita Buadromo also was in action as she took part in the women’s 100m freestyle and clocked 58.53 seconds to finish first.

She says it was a better effort by her in the 100m compared to the 200m and adds that the focus is now on the Oceania Championships and qualifying for the 2016 Olympics in Brazil.
