The wildcard surfer to represent Fiji at the Volcom Pro Surfing event in Tavarua next week will be named on Wednesday.

Fiji Surfing Association president, John Philp says the selection will be made following the last of three trials held at Cloudbreak.

He adds that whoever will be given the chance of a lifetime, is fortunate to have the home advantage.

“Because it’s a local break, they have all the chances in the world to perform very well in the competition. It’s a mental game, they have all the experience they’re ever going to need, but there’s so much pressure because they are up against the worlds best.”

Pacific Games gold medallist, Aca Ravulo is the top contender from the 10 local surfers competing for the wildcard.

Overseas production staff have already arrived to set up live streaming of the week-long event which starts next Sunday.
