Local players eyed for NRC

July 25, 2017 5:10 pm

Local players are expected to battle for a spot in the Fiji team to take part in in the National Rugby Championship which starts in September.

Vodafone Flying Fijians Coach John McKee says the NRC will be a huge boost for upcoming local players who will get a taste of top-class rugby.

“It could be a good opportunity for some of the Under-20’s who will defend the World Rugby Junior Trophy to come back and join the squad after the tournament in Uruguay but it is really important with these teams to have an eye on the future and to start to bring some of the younger talented players into that environment.”

McKee adds the championship will groom young players who will then play for the Flying Fijians in the near future.

The tournament will commence on 2nd September and will run for nine weeks.
