Lawaqa Park closes again for renovations

September 3, 2015 4:53 am

It is highly unlikely that Nadroga Rugby Union will host anymore matches at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka this year.

Nadroga Rugby President, Tiko Matawalu says the first HFC Bank Farebrother Trophy challenge match against Nadi last weekend was a one-off event as renovation works continue on the Stallions’ home-ground and should be complete by the end of the year.

“This contract is going right till December. So we are not really sure about the rest of the Farebrother matches, given the risk involved with removing the roof and we are just hoping for the best.”

Following the renovation, the upgraded venue will be able to cater not only for rugby but also volleyball, netball and soccer.

Meanwhile, the second round of the HFC Farebrother challenge between Nadroga and Vatukoula will be held at Prince Charles Park in Nadi at 3:30pm on Saturday and a live commentary will air on Bula FM.
