55 year old Akanisi Latu is relishing the opportunity to travel overseas for the first time.

Latu is part of the five-member national squad that will participate in the Oceania Para Table Tennis Championship in Bendigo, Australia at the end of the week.

“At the moment I’m really excited because this is my first trip abroad. I hope that I can do my best in this trip to Bendigo.”

The Ovalau native of Lomaiviti only took up the sport a few months ago and this is the first sport she has participated in since she was diagnosed with Polio as a child.

Earlier today, Vodafone ATH Fiji Foundation donated $5000 to assist the team in the regional tournament which begins on Friday.
