Labasa could pardon some players

The Labasa Football Association could pardon some of the 18 players who are currently suspended for bringing disrepute to the Babasiga Lions.

18 players were suspended after the Courts IDC last weekend, after they demanded for money and threatened to boycott the last pool match against Nadroga.

Labasa FA secretary Nilesh Lal says their preliminary investigations have showed some players were not guilty.

However, he adds the final decision will be made by the disciplinary committee to be set up.

“The preliminary investigations have revealed that there were a handful players who instigated that incident. The others had minimal role or just followed suit, And some of them didn’t even agree with the method or objectives of that boycott.”

Lal says they will now have very strict guidelines in place, which will include developing their own players instead of relying on imports, who have not brought any success to the side this year.
