July 30, 2014 12:14 am

Fiji Under-20 coach Ravinesh Kumar has been appointed as the new acting technical director of the Fiji Football Association.

This is the latest achievement for the Ba school teacher as he also in May coached the national side, which qualified for the 2015 U20 World Cup to be played in New Zealand.

Fiji FA president Rajesh Patel says the appointment is in line with the Oceania Football Confederation requirements.

Patel says with Saiyad Ali looking after the North and South, Kumar will be working closely with all development officers in order to develop the sport further.

“Ravinesh (Kumar) is the regional Technical Director West plus he now holds the position of Acting Technical Director until we finalize the position in one year after the performance and seeing the performance of all the development officers etc. So this is what we have done and it is an added responsibility.”

Kumar is currently working with his U20 squad for the World Cup in New Zealand, where top European nations such as Germany, Portugal, Ukraine and Serbia will be taking part.
