Krishna hails team mates

June 28, 2015 12:56 am

Vodafone Fiji football captain, Roy Krishna hailed his side’s efforts despite their 2-1 defeat to Wellington Phoenix at the ANZ Stadium yesterday.

The fleet-footed striker, who scored the lone goal for the hosts, says the team put up a determined fight against a professional outfit and will be itching to get back at the Kiwis next week.

Krishna, who plies his trade with Phoenix in the A-League, is also hoping to impress coach, Ernie Merrick for next season.

“I’m proud of my boys; they did really well especially in the midfield. We tried to stop their midfield. As a striker, you have to score goals and I proved my point that I’ve really worked hard. Hopefully Ernie sees that and it’s a long pre-season to go but hopefully I can get back into the starting line-up.”

The Fiji-Wellington Phoenix return match will be held on Tuesday at Govind Park and you can catch the live commentary on Radio Fiji 2 with the voice of soccer, Raymond Stoddart.
