The Fiji International has laid the foundation for the continuous growth of the sport in the country.

Speaking at the closing ceremony of the Fiji International at the Natadola Bay Golf Course in Sigatoka yesterday, Minister for Tourism, Faiyaz Koya says the tournament has provided local golfers the opportunity to play alongside high ranking professionals.

“We all know that Fiji is a rugby playing nation, however, since the launch of this tournament five years ago, many Fijians have come to appreciate and learn more about the great game.”

Koya also highlighted that the Fiji International helped position Fiji in global markets.

Six Fijians golfers competed in the tournament compared to four when it first started in 2014.
