President Major General Ret’d Jioji Konrote has congratulated the Fiji Airways Drua side on its first ever National Rugby Championship win over Queensland Country in the weekend.

The Drua defeated the Country 36-26 to claim the NRC title at Churchill Park last Saturday.

Konrote says it’s a milestone achievement for the Fijian rugby and thanked the players for their hard-work.

“Now what an awesome performance it was to not only win the championship but to do so in only our second year of participation. Congratulations to the players, coaches and the officials.”

Meanwhile, eight of the Fiji Drua players left today to join the Fiji Airways Flying Fijians team for the November tour in France.
