Setting greater height and bringing pride to all western schools was intermediate boys high jumper, Malaka Ketewai of Xavier College from Ba.
He broke a 12- year record with a leap of 2.01m – the old record was 1.96m set by Rahiman Mohammed of St Thomas High School.
Ketewai gold medal scoop up against the likes of Marist Brothers High powerhouse, Sailasa Kalouniviti says it was a proud moment indeed.
“I had a lot of competition coming from Marist and St Johns. They were the favourites for this event and I guess they did not know what hit them.”
Ketewai will also be featuring in the intermediate boys 4×400m relay event.
