Kelly wants to join Lions

A former professional footballer has shown interest in joining Labasa in the new football transfer window.

Stuart Kelly has played club level in Scotland and New Zealand and wants to feature for the Babasiga Lions to add to his illustrious career.

He has played in Scotland for Glasgow Rangers and has also featured for Auckland City in 2009-10 season when they won the O-League and has played for Otago United and Canterbury United in the ASB Premiership.

Kelly is currently playing fulltime professional football in Thailand.

Labasa football official Nilesh Lal says they are honoured by Kelly’s interest.

“He is a very capable player and on top of that he is a very qualified coach at all levels and he also has a UEFA coaching certificate. So if things do transpire than he will be a very important addition to the Labasa side.”

Labasa is looking at rebuilding its team in the new transfer window, which opens on Sunday.

There are also speculations a number of former Labasa players in other districts are also looking at joining their home team.
