Kata ruled out of RLWC

Tongan centre Solomone Kata will miss the remainder of the Rugby League World Cup with a broken foot.

The 22-year-old suffered the injury during the second half of Tonga’s 32-18 win over Samoa at Waikato Stadium.

Kata now faces three months on the sidelines, which will affect his pre-season duties with the Warriors, who are already without Gerard Beale for the with a double leg fracture.

This has been a challenging year for Kata, who only played 19 games for the Warriors with several injuries and some off-field issues.

Tonga are now preparing to face New Zealand in their final pool match, with the winners finishing top of pool B.

Meanwhile, the Vodafone Fiji Bati plays Italy in its third pool match at 9.40pm on Friday.
