Injury concerns for top teams at RLWC

Rugby League World Cup heavyweight Australia, New Zealand, England and Fiji have all been dealt early tournament hurdles to clear after suffering injury blows in their opening rounds.

The Vodafone Fiji Bati side lost one of their top players, Kane Evans in its 58-12 win over USA.

Evans, World Cup campaign came to end after he broke his wrist on last Saturday.

The Kiwi’s lost its utility back Gerard Beale for the rest of the tournament after the 27-year-old injured his ankle.

Australia’s Jake Trbojevic has also been ruled out of the tournament while England star Sam Burgess will miss all the pool games after he broke his arm in the match against the Kangaroos.

Meanwhile, Fiji Bati takes on Wales at 9.30pm on Sunday.
