The Vodafone Fiji 7s extended squad is facing an increasing injury toll.

First it was Viliame Mata and Apisai Domolailai who were side lined by finger and knee injuries respectively, following the Sydney 7s.

Jerry Tuwai has been unable to shake off an ankle injury while Pio Tuwai is suffering from an aggravated back injury after only recovering from a bout of food poisoning last week.

Coach Ben Ryan says he will not take any gamble in rushing these players back into selection for the next leg of the World Sevens Series next month.

“If there is any doubt, I’m not going to force them through, I’m just going to rest them because the longer picture is making sure that we are going to have guys fit and healthy for Rio and some of the other tournaments coming up. Everytime that one of these guys misses out, then at least it gives me an opportunity for of our youngsters to have a chance to play.”

The next leg of the World Series will be the Las Vegas 7s, which will be held on March 5th-7th.
