Improvement expected in women's tourney

November 27, 2014 6:08 pm

Ba’s football venue Govind Park is expected to host some quality action when the Fiji FA Women’s Inter District tournament kicks off this afternoon.

Fiji FA’s Development Manager and National Women’s Coach, Charlene Lockington says with the development programs that have taken place this year, officials are expecting the standard of soccer in the female game to improve.

“I expect a quicker pace game this year. This year we had our Under 14 girl’s tournament in primary schools and under 16 girls tournament in secondary schools and most districts have built their base on these youth players so they are more trimmed and more quicker when it comes to football compared to senior players that we had before who did not go through the age group development of Fiji Football.”
