Hosts wary of overseas sailors

It’s the final day to tune up boats and perfect racing techniques before the 2012 Vodafone Oceania Youth Hobie Cat Sailing Championship begins.

Fiji Hobie Cat Sailing president, Graham Southwick says defending champs Fiji, are becoming wary of the visitors.

“They are not as experienced as the New Caledonians, these are not yet professional. New Caledonia takes the sport very seriously unlike our guys but they are expected to do very well.”

Southwick adds Fiji’s top bets are with title holder, Kaveni Nadrai while Seru Inia and Epeli Droma will also provide stiff competition.

Day One of races begins tomorrow in and around Suva Point and Laucala Bay and with the finals on Friday.
