Australia have been providing good competition to the Fijian Hockey side and has dominated the week-long tournament.
Fiji Presidents Captain Hector Smith Junior says the tournament is a stepping stone as they aim to achieve more in future.
“Next year there’s a qualifier in Rockhampton in Brisbane, we using this as a stepping stone towards that. And hopefully getting more players to come and participate to give more competition and also to give us more players to pull from when it comes to tournament like this.”
Smith Junior says this tournament is a stepping stone for next year’s qualifiers in Brisbane.
“Yeah, so we did participate last year. We had a little bit more team last year apart from Australia and we’re very thankful to Country Hockey Australia for coming down and participating in this tournament which allows us to actually develop our sports here in Fiji.”
The Australian Country’ team have been dominating the past four days.
The week long tournament will continue at the National Hockey Centre in Suva tomorrow.
