Hekari edge Tafea in thriller

The Hekari United football side defeated Tafea 3-2 in their Group C clash in the Fiji Airways OFC Champions League at the ANZ Stadium.

Dennis Ifunaoa found the back of the net into the second minute of the match before Tommy Sammy powered in a shot in the 10th minute to give Hekari a 2-0 lead at the breather.

Alick Maemae scored Hekari’s third goal early in the second spell in what was looking to be a one-way rout.

Tafea mounted a spirited comeback with two goals to Jean Kaltak but Hekari managed to hold on to the lead until the final whistle.

In the other match today, Team Wellington defeated AS Tefana 2-1.

In games on Tuesday at the ANZ Stadium, Auckland City takes on Western United at 4:30pm and Vodafone Suva battles Amicale at 7pm.

At Govind Park, Vodafone Ba meets Lupe Ole Soaga at 4:30pm while AS Pirae faces Gaitcha at 7pm.
